Kitty Paw Talisman - Liebchen

Kitty Paw Talisman - ‘Liebchen’

We love a talisman.

Imbued with luck, love and light…

There are many legends surround these talisman and why they’re lucky, from the macarbre to just plain weird..

The most common example is the lucky rabbits paw.. which apparently has its origins in the Celtic idea that because rabbits burrow deep underground they are in direct communication with the Gods and spirits of the underworld

But the explanation that works best for me is that carrying an animal foot around stemmed from the ancient European totemic beliefs that we are all descended from animals, and specific tribes had specific animal ancestor species.

So a tribe worshipped it’s animal ancestor and carried parts of that animal as protective talisman.

As a vegan … I’m not entirely cool with chopping kitten paws off … so a little silver black cat paw is definitely the next best thing … and is, as always, imbued with tonnes of A Wolf and I positivity and love.

Liebchen is the name of The Grand High Witch’s familiar in Roald Dahl’s ‘The Witches’.

Liebchen’s paw is solid sterling silver and is approx. 35mm from the top of the claws to the top of the three rings.

It hangs on a 20” oxidised silver chain with our little A Wolf and I bear tag at the clasp.
