‘Lepus’ celestial hare necklace

Legend has it …

That ‘Lepus’ the hare depicted in the constellation that lies at Orion’s feet was once a bird …

One Spring when Ostara (who was known to be able to transform into a hare) was travelling across the land she came across a bird shivering and on the verge of death..

His wings were frozen and she couldn’t leave him as he couldn’t fly and would soon perish.

She turned him into a hare so that he could run instead and bestowed on him the ability to lay eggs, or another version of the story tells how the hare layed coloured eggs in gratitude to Ostara for saving his life.

So… Lepus may just be the origin story for the Easter bunny !! 🐇

Lepus is 65mm long from the tips of his back paws to the tips of his front.

He has two silver starbursts in front and behind him and is set into a 20” chain (please let us know if you’d like a different length)

He is solid sterling silver hallmarked at the London Assay Office x
